When Blackrow Group, a specialist engineering firm with a global client base, embarked on a management buyout to secure its future, Wilkin Chapman’s corporate and commercial team stepped in to guide the process.
Founded in 1979 in a Grimsby garage, Blackrow Group has grown into a multi-disciplinary engineering powerhouse, employing over 300 staff and generating a turnover of £40 million. Their impressive client roster includes household names like PepsiCo and KP Snacks.
In 2023, Wilkin Chapman was appointed to represent the management team involved in the buyout process. To ensure the best possible deal was struck for all involved parties, our dedicated team negotiated on key details of the takeover, such as the main purchase agreement, associated documentation, financial arrangements and security documents.
Following a commercial approach to negotiations, our experts were able to secure an agreement that was in the best interest of all those involved.
The buyout saw the experienced management team of Neil Ellis, Chris Marfleet, Darren Broughton, and Glenn Ritchie remain at the helm, joined by new shareholders Anthony Booker, Gary Pexman, Nicholas Rands, Luke O’Brien, and Callum Day. This blend of long-standing expertise and fresh leadership marks a new chapter for Blackrow Group.
Adam Ottley, partner in our corporate and commercial department, led the deal alongside his team. Blackrow Group commended Wilkin Chapman for their expertise:
“The service we received from Adam and his team was excellent. They gave us good advice, were always available and dealt with any issues promptly. We would definitely recommend Adam and his colleagues to others.”
