Confirmation of identify and existence. On average, this type of work takes approximately one hour at an hourly rate of £240. This means that on average costs are £240.

Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as:

Postage or courier charges
We can handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process. Payment will be required in advance. We will advise you at the outset of the likely sums that you will need to pay in addition to our fees.

The initial meeting is usually arranged to take place within three to five working days of you contacting us

Where an Apostille is required in terms of a document (this being confirmation from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office that the document has been signed by a notary), this can take up to a week for it to be sent to the Foreign Office and returned
If legalisation from another embassy is additionally required, this could take up to three weeks

Each notarial matter is different, and as such the stages will vary depending on the type of matter. Some of the typical key stages are:
Receiving and reviewing the documents to be notarised together with any instructions provided
Liaising with your legal advisers or other bodies to obtain the necessary documentation to deal with the document (e.g. information from Companies House or foreign registries, Powers of Attorney, etc.)
Checking the identity, capacity, and authority of the person who is to sign the document
If a document is to be certified, checking with the issuing authorities that the document or award is genuine. In the case of academic awards, this would entail checking with the appropriate academic institutions
Meeting with the signatory to verify their identity and to ascertain that they understand what they are signing and that they are doing so of their own free will and ensuring that the document is executed correctly
Drafting and affixing or endorsing a notarial certificate to the document
Arranging for the legalisation of the document as appropriate
Arranging for the storage of copies of all notarised documents in accordance with the requirements of the Notarial Practice Rules 2019
Professional indemnity insurance is in place for the notarial services provided by Kat Ulfig in the sum of £3million.
