Hannah Loft is a senior associate in the disputes and regulatory team, based in our Hull office.
Hannah deals with an array of areas of litigation, with specialist expertise in commercial disputes and property disputes.
She is an expert in identifying client aims and is pragmatic in her approach, providing commercial, technical and strategic advice to resolve disputes in the most cost-efficient manner.
Commercial disputes
Hannah has a wealth of experience dealing with commercial litigation matters.
Her work includes business, shareholder and partnership disputes, as well as lasting power of attorney disputes with a significant business aspect. She also deals with high value contract and loans disputes, business benefit trust disputes and employment benefit trust disputes.
She supports clients with business protection disputes including disputes relating to breaches of post-termination restrictive covenants, breaches of warranties and breaches of share purchase agreements.
She has specialist knowledge and expertise in acting for large national housebuilders, developers and construction industry professionals in commercial disputes relating to defects, contracts and actions taken by governing bodies.
She also advises commercial clients on property litigation matters, with a particular focus on property and land disputes - including those relating to option and joint venture agreements.
Property disputes
Recognised by Legal 500 as a ‘key lawyer’, Hannah has developed a niche expertise in acting for privately owned estates with large property portfolios. This involves advising on commercial landlord and tenant matters, including breach of lease covenants, forfeiture and the recovery of service charges and rent arrears.
In addition to this, she also has specialist knowledge in acting for social housing and registered providers in respect of tenancy enforcement, anti-social behaviour and injunctions.
Education
Hannah has acted on behalf of a number of academies, schools and other education establishments. She has gained knowledge and sector-specific expertise in her role as a director of a multi-academy trust, where she has gained insight and understands the ever-changing challenges that education providers face.
In her education work, she has covered a variety of disputes ranging from high value contract disputes to commercial property disputes.
Hannah graduated with a 2:1 Bachelor of Law (LLB Hons) from the University of Birmingham and then joined Wilkin Chapman as a paralegal in the commercial property department.
Hannah undertook her training contract and the Legal Practice Course concurrently, winning an award for the highest achieving performer in her cohort, before qualifying in October 2020.
Hannah is also currently a director of a multi-academy trust and is the chair of the trust’s Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. She previously held the position of vice president of the Junior Lincolnshire Lawyers Division.
